Presenting Docme 12. The PopCult manifesto for making non-fiction films.

As the debate about “What is a podcast” has evolved to celebrities, their guests and microphones around a conference table, PopCult evolved naturally into telling stories as we always have - with sound and vision.

I’ve always tried find a way to communicate what makes our music and pop culture entertainment different, and as it turns out the answer was already there in a trailer my former ad agency Scheyer/SF produced many moons ago parodying Lars Van Trier’s Dogme 95 filmmaking manifesto.

Introducing Docme 12 - named after the year PopCult was created. It’s our manifesto about how we make non-fiction films - though in many ways it also applies to our scripted shows.

Our manager says it’s really rules for us vs. the outside world. That was good enough reason for me to share it. And, at the end of the presentation you can watch the pilot for SCENE: as good an example of practicing what we preach to ourselves as any.

Enjoy. And thank you for reading.
